EDITORS COMMENTS
Great memories were made at Deepdale and Portman Road during the 2016/17 English Championship season as Preston North End (PNE) traveled to face Ipswich Town on Saturday, 27th August. The atmosphere was electric, with both sets of fans eagerly anticipating an exciting encounter between two historic football clubs. As the sun began to set over Portman Road, the teams took to the pitch, each determined to secure a valuable three points. The first half saw a balanced match, with both sides creating opportunities, but neither able to find the back of the net. The second half kicked off with renewed energy, and it wasn't long before PNE took the lead. A beautiful team goal, involving intricate passing and precise finishing, left the Ipswich defense reeling. The away fans erupted in jubilation, their team now in the driving seat. However, Ipswich refused to give up, and they fought back with determination. A controversial penalty call saw them level the score, leaving the game poised for a thrilling finish. The final whistle blew, and the points were shared between the two teams. Despite the disappointing result, the fans on both sides left the stadium with a sense of satisfaction, having witnessed an enthralling display of football. This photograph, taken by Preston North End Football Club's official photographer, Dave Kendall, captures the intensity and excitement of the moment. The determined looks on the players' faces, the passion in the fans' eyes, and the vibrant colors of the stadium all combine to create a lasting image of a memorable match in the 2016/17 Championship season.
