The plant is illustrated in this finished watercolor by the skilled hand of Fred Polydore Nodder, based on an original outline drawing made by Sydney Parkinson. The Coast Caper is a member of the Capparaceae family, which is part of the larger group of angiosperms, flowering plants that produce seeds enclosed in an ovary. This particular species is classified as a eudicot, a type of dicotyledon, meaning it has two seed leaves and two cotyledons.
