Mikael Silvestre, a French international defender, joined Arsenal in 2001 and quickly became a fan favorite with his tenacious defending and ability to read the game. His experience and leadership were invaluable to the team, and he made over 150 appearances for the Gunners before moving on to Manchester United in 2009.
